Every now and then we all try something new - maybe a sport we haven't played, a drink we haven't drunk or a new store offering super discounts and wonderful deals. Well, I just tried something new and it was garbage - literally.
Krazy Bins (Don't you love the cool, funny K spelling?) The store advertises itself as 'the home of Krazy discounts,' but it felt like being a rubbish dump with homemade 'bins' full of ripped open cartons and boxes - most of it absolute rubbish. Nothing is priced - apparently, a new consignment arrives every Friday, at which point, everything in the store is given a high fixed price. Then every day after the consignment, the price drops until the next Thursday when they almost give away whatever shit is left over after the vultures have picked at the carcass.
I cant imagine what it would be like on a Friday when a new truckload of stuff arrives, but I can imagine the people who feel the need to be there and try to get the bargains before they are gone. It must be like black Friday on acid every week - At least on Black Friday people generally have a plan and an idea of whatever bargain they want to take advantage of.
Here, they have no idea what treats lie 'in store' as they queue outside to get entry. I feel sympathy for anyone who needs this as part of their lives. They lose sleep on a Thursday night dreaming of the bargains they can find - only to be disappointed the next day when all that turns up is a load of out of kids water gins or oversize diapers. I am sure there must be bargains to be found, but how many people go home having spent money they can't afford on things they don't need?
So was it fun being in there? Well, imagine shopping in the charity shops of Skegness, but nothing is sorted out, boxes are ripped open and half the stuff looks like it has been picked up off the floor multiple times. I think it's a terrible terrible place and I suggest no one ever goes again.
However, I am trying to look on the bright side of things and be happier than my usual grumpy bastard self - So if you want a fun trip out to see the sights and pretend you are in Blackpool - Fill yer boots and get the fuck to KKKKKKKKKrazzzzzyyyyyyyyy Binnnnnnnnnnnsss!!
On another note, I recently sprayed myself in the eye with some hand sanitiser and it wasn't the first time I have done this. What happens, as I am sure you will all realise - is the nozzle gets clogged up with dried goop and this causes the sanitiser to shoot out at weird and wonderful angles when you press down to clean your hands. However, when this happens to me, I stop and clean the nozzle - so the next person is able to correctly cleanse his covid ridden appendages, without blinding himself with an alcohol-based cleansing solution. I do wonder if someone out here has sued a person or company for damages after being struck in the eye by the dangerous liquid meant to save the human race!?
That's some dangerous sanitiser diverting goop on that there nozzle!!
So I guess I should talk about stuff that we did post some pictures and videos of the kids being kids, or licking shoes or summat and then summarize by saying what a good/bad/indifferent month/day/week it's been. That seems about right - Here goes then.....
So in the summer, we ended up in quarantine for 10 days because Hannah was a close contact to someone who had some disease you probably never heard of - Covid or something. Anyway, out of the kindness of their hearts, Brent and Megan made us some pies and pasties (Pasty rhymes with nasty not tasty for all your Canadians out there!) They were delicious and when we asked for the recipe we were invited out to the party capital of the world (Its where the best Wedding party was held - ours!) to actually bake some new ones with them!
It took a while to arrange but a couple of weeks back we went out and stayed the night with Brent and Meg, spending the afternoon cooking and the evening eating some of the fares! It was lovely to get out of the city with the kids, watching deer feed in the garden as we baked, enjoying good company. cold beers and even getting a little respite from the kids as Meg and Brent both spent a little time playing with the cheeky scamps we laughingly call Children!
Hannah was also a little scared by the fake rubber animal skull that hangs in eth basement near the room she was sleeping in. After a little coaxing, she took a closer look, named the skull Dave and wanted to take it to bed like a teddy bear! Oh, the innocence of kids!
We really enjoyed our evening away and if everything stays as it is, we will be back out in Anola, for Christmas with the rest of the family on Christmas day!
The day at Meg and Brents was the same day the boys went Christmas tree cutting. Now I quite enjoy the day out in the Wilderness chopping down trees, but it does leave Buffy at home with the kids all day, while I go and get pissed with the boys. (and cut down a tree).
A couple of years ago a new business opened just by our house - Petes Trees - a wonderful little enterprise where a local businessman builds a little Christmassy compound, complete with roaring fire and hot drinks, where you can just wander over with the kids and let them pick a tree - have half an hour in the warm glow of a roaring fire and be back home in time for tea and biscuits. So because we were at Meg and Brents, we got our tree all together this year and loved the afternoon together!
So, sorry Stef, Randy, Pat and Bradley, but we really enjoyed our little family trip out, Hannah loved picking the tree and helping cut it to length and being involved, so this might just be our new Christmas tree tradition! Maybe when the kids are big enough to handle an axe, we can start them on the boys day out!?
This One!
I suppose nobody really cares about how or why I write this anymore, but what I do is look at photos from the last few weeks to remind me what we have done. Nowadays it's easy to whip out your camera and take a pic of whatever is going on. I just got caught up looking at this month's favourite photos and here are my picks of the best ones....
Eating an eyeball!
These two eh!
One thing that Oliver is doing more of is talking - chatty little sod never shuts up when you want him to - here's a quick video I took of him one evening when he was supposed to be sleeping!!
Hannah sometimes likes singing.....
They are annoying, frustrating, stinky and the biggest pain the arse I have ever known. But my kids are also the absolute best kids in the world. I listen to a lot of podcasts and one of my favourites at the moment is the fictional story podcast 'The Truth'. One of the stories I listened to is a couple of years old and ended up with a guys dad dying in an old people home. The next week, the guy becomes a dad himself and breaks down because it's only when he becomes a dad that he realizes how much work his dad put in for him and how much his dad loved him. It made me tear up a little because I never realised what being a parent felt like, how hard it is and just how much you love your kids.
I wish I had had the chance to feel this when my mum and dad were still alive - I would love the chance to give them both a big hug now and just say thanks for being my mum and dad. Being a dad to Crazy Pants and Smalliveris the best. (Even when they are being arseholes!)
Yep - I am a horsey! (With Christmas decorations for earrings and yellow glasses for no reason)
Hey we took them sledding this last week too....
Broken fingers?? hahahaha
It was a lovely warm Saturday, so the fact that we forgot hats and gloves for the kids didn't really matter - Hannah borrowed my work gloves and hat from the car - That's why it looks like her fingers are broken! Oliver and I took a break in the passenger seat of the ghost car too - he enjoyed his banana bread!
The rest of the last few days have been getting ready for Christmas - wrapping presents, delivering Buffys homemade bread to friends and neighbours - The ladies in the family - Buffy, Susan, Alana, Erika and Hannahvall got together this past weekend too and make a huge pile of cookies and delights to share about! It was a busy day with the kids able to play downstairs and Ollie using the slide by himself. Hannah also got to practice her skydiving....see video below...No Hannahs were harmed...
Oliver smalliver has come on leaps and bounds these last few days. He has been walking for a couple of weeks now but has been choosing to take his time and take only small wanders around, saving his bum from lots of bumping and falls. Almost like he has been practising until he is ready to walk for real. Then suddenly a couple of days ago - he just started going for it and now Hannah is able to chase him around the house!! Hannah seems really happy about his and is actively playing with him more the bogger he gets!
Awesome!!
He is also getting very talkative - as well as mummy and daddy and the odd word where he definitely says things for real - We have heard 'thank you', 'book' and 'eyes' amongst many others his favourite word is 'Yes'. You can ask him a question and if the answer is no - you get a shake of the head...but if the answer is yes - you get this.....
You got to love them....
That's it from me for now... Have a great Christmas and see you in 2022.
I have a new idea for posting, which I will tell you all about sometime in the Year...
