Dreams, Chips, fests and language.

There are some awesome TV shows going round at the moment. The Boys, British Bake Off, Joe pera. All fun and unique in their own way and if you haven't seen any of the 3 I have mentioned, put down this blog and do so now. They are all great.

But I wondered if my idea of a new TV show would work - Dream Recreations. The premise being that when you wake up after a weird dream, you write it down and someone makes a 5 or 10 minute short movie showing your dream. Who wouldn't want to watch me living on an island in the middle of the ocean, a nuclear disaster take place on a neighbouring island and a huge plume of smoke is followed by bright green seaweed floating across the ocean and engulfing the coast of my island,. I fall in while trying to escape and get covered by a bedsheet (from who knows where) and start to panic. I wake up, still in my dream surrounded by friends and Buffy who for no reason at all, suggests I have a one night stand with a stranger. Apparently this happens as later I am threatened by my new friends that they will tell Buffy  - even though she planned it and is there listening - We laugh it off, but then are amazed that people have been hiding inside the pool table, which suddenly appears in the room. People actually drop out of the pool table like a huge hen laying eggs. I search for my shoes to escape, but can only find one. I wake up and wonder what this would look like as a TV show. Hence this drivel you are now reading. Would you watch it?

Anyway, the bees have packed their honey covered suitcases, the mosquitoes have hidden wherever they go for 8 months of the year and the laziest of the leaves have decided not to hang about anymore on the tree that gave them life. They decided they could do better on their own and dropped off the branches, seeking adventure, excitement and fame. Only to land 6 inches below in my gutter, where they will die, turn into a muddy mess resembling melted fudge and then be cleaned out by me, wearing rubber gloves in about 5 weeks so as to prevent ice dams on my roof. Yep - summer has gone, fall is here and soon winter is coming.

We have had a pretty good run of it though - We had an indian summer as they say these last few days - with temps in the 30's again and uncomfortable humidity in the evenings. Its all good, but we are ready to swap our summer wardrobe the winter one and await the snow.

Talking of snow and ice, plans are already gathering pace for this years winter ice spectacular. I have bought lights. I am stockpiling plastic bowls and even made a quick drawing/plan. all will be revealed in late November or early December, but I can tell you this year will hopefully include FIRE!!! (Sort of...) We may also scare the kids at Halloween with melted ice hands, just for the shit of it...

I need a lot more yet...

September has been good so far though. We had a nice weekend at the lake, just the 3 of us for a couple of days, where we mellowed out and had a day in Kenora eating at the Chip Van twice, which she loved because of the delicious English style chips and malt vinegar and chasing the seagulls. Then we introduced Hannah to a good old piss smelling English Red phone box, which she had fun in till she trapped her fingers - Oh well. I also spent a bit of time online taking my boating license test - which I passed - so now i am legally able to drive a boat, really badly, anywhere in Canada! Watch out everyone!

On our last day there, we were joined by neioghbourinos Holland (toddler) and his mum Rebecca (Bigger toddler) who spent the night and enjoyed a relaxing time with us around the campfire. Its always nice to show the cabin to someone new and hopefully Mike (another big toddler and dad of Holland) can join us out there next summer too.

Smoke rising from the chimney

Enjoying the view

Taking a wander around with the guests!

Back in the city its been busy - Burgerweek passed way too fast - We had 6 of the nearly 200 burgers on offer this year and all 6 were pretty good. 3 of them were enjoyed at Adam and Alenas with Joel and Byron on a lovely cool night where we shared the meat and sat round a fire till it was time for bed.

This time of year there are lots of festivals in town too, so after a night at Wills and Annas new place (New for Will, Anna already lived there), where we discovered what I think they should make into the smallest airbnb in the world and the fact that Will makes very good burgers (Yep more burgers) we spent the final 45 minutes of the night just around the corner at the Sherbrook street festival, watching the band - Mariachi Ghost. Then we spent a great afternoon at manyfest - so called because it basically lots of little festivals thrown together in one big lump. There are bands playing, fun fair, street games, kids games and the Food truck wars - Where about 100 food trucks turn up and sell their wares. Its great if you want to get really fat and then really sick on a gravity wheel. Hannah enjoyed her first ride on a fun fair though - going around on the Ferris wheel, before spending ages messing about with all the kids games - Throwing and jumping on sponge blocks, kicking balls, stealing other kids toys and running in and out and in and out and in and out of the little kids circus tents - Which were apparently - Hilarious!!

Last weekend it was the first meet up of the new Choir season, so me and Hannah had the day to ourselves! We watched the United game in the morning before hitting the Zoo in the afternoon. She got to see the stingrays, the tiger and we were lucky enough for the Polar bears to be lazing in the sunshine right in front of the cafe area. Hannah was more excited about running up and down in front of the windows though. Bloody kids!!

We also found the hand print that Buffy made when she was a toddler Its the red one at the bottom, with Pats hand print above in Blue. -But Hannah did not look impressed in the slightest!

The final and last part of to days post concerns language. My use of language and its utter failure to work. I use android auto as such and as such use my speaking voice to get navigation working whenever I need it. Last week I was working on Muir Road. But Google and android wouldst have it - at all. Mill St. Mule road. Whatever, just not Muir Rd. Weird and even weirder when the next day Corey at work tried it and it sent him straight there! Take a look at 55 seconds in and again at about 1.55. it gets really weird!!

Thanks for wasting your time again on such trivial nonsense. You never know, next time i post something Brexit might be sorted out and United might actually be playing well. . We can but dream. NIght night.
