Phew.
The only problem is - will the tomato seeds grow in the basement of the derelict hospital or will Hannah have to sell them to buy a beyond meat burger? Who know?
Anyhoo, summer is flying by. We are at the cabin and are thinking of lighting a fire as its chilly and rainy today. Its only 10.30am and already we have had eggybread (french toast) for breakfast, Hannah has ridden the ATV and Jon has polished the floor. Its all go, go go.
Hannah is sleeping at the moment, so I am actually going to stop typing and go grab a blanket and take a snooze on the sofa...Ill finish this later.....
Much much later- actually its now tomorrow (In comparison to when i started typing)
We never did light a fire yesterday, but had a lovely evening playing Trivial pursuit and drinking Guinness. Hannah is in bed again (I think she is doing a growth spurt as she tends to sleep most of the day at the moment) and we are outside on the deck, obeying a breezy afternoon in the sunshine.
The last few weeks have been pretty good. Work is busy but manageable, Buffy is doing well with her freelance work and has a few clients on the go and Hannah is growing everyday. she really enjoyed the day Pat and Erika came back from their summer vacation and Uncle Pat swung her around by her dungarees and she felt like she was flying. Add that to diving head first down slides and climbing hills in Assiniboine park and she has had an exciting day almost every day!!
Incidentally, the day we spent in Assiniboine park was great. We took a picnic and enjoyed it under a tree while Hannah had the freedom to wander around on her own in the huge open grassed area. This was all after we had ridden the little steam train that winds around the park every summer. Hannah's 2nd train ride after her first was riding the Bavarian train up a mountain in Costa Rica to 1970's style rotating restaurant. (That one was a bit stranger than this one.) She loved the train ride though and seeing deer in the woods and hearing the whistle blow made it all the better...
So, that's enough about the star of the family, until I add more later on, but I wanted to share a video I took whilst working out of the city a week or so ago.
We live in the prairies and so there is a lot of farming going on around here. Its flat and generally nice weather in the summer, so you see field after field of various crops. But one thing I haven't seen much of is the crop dusting planes. I have seen advertisements for companies that do this task, but I haven't been lucky enough to see one in action - until last week.
I was heading about an hour south of the city to install a new phone system, when I noticed what i first thought was a plane about to crash. it was flying low and suddenly dropped like a stone and turned in a tight arc. I expected to hear a bang and see a plume of smoke rise, but the only smke I saw was when the plane appeared again, flying about 10 feet off the ground and turned on its spray, as it neared the field it was working on. Then it rose again, turned in an incredibly tight arc once more before returning the opposite direction. I wasn't the only person to pull over in the car to watch the aerobatic (crazy) pilot enjoying his mornings work. I managed to get a short video of the end of the display before he flew off to land and probably get a refill of whatever he was spraying.
Its now 28th August - Nearly the end of summer as I have said and the weather is showing itself. It is currently like an awesome English autumn - Lots of rain a little bit of wind and some great storms! I love it. Its just a pity that this is the beginning of the end of nice warm summer and the beginning of the start of another freezing cold winter.
Here's a clip from today!
We spent one of our last summer weekend up in Gimli, where just like last year Buffy was covering the MS bike ride as their social media manager/poster/photo taker/ etc.
The weather was a little poor for the riders, but as usual everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and they all enjoyed meeting Hannah again. Some people remembered a small sleeping cherub, who slept all last year - not the crazy wild child from this years event, who banged her noise makers together, climbed up and down more stairs than ever, stole food from the lunch and generally made a terror of herself - Everyone loved her as usual!
We still had time for a stroll around town before a beer in the pub and a good fish and chip dinner, but the dust was a bit of pain in the arse, getting everywhere! A fun weekend though and thanks to MS for allowing us to come along and take part in the start and finish of the race at least. Hannah even got interviewed by the radio announcer from Virgin Winnipeg! (As well as making the BoBfm AND Virgin Winnipeg twitter feeds!

So that's it for now. Not very exciting I must admit - But soon winter will be here and there will be surprises aplenty!
For now, enjoy the last of the good weather - Its the long weekend next week - Cant wait for another Monday at the lake!
