Naked car and white stuff

White stuff.

The last week has been good. The winter is now a week behind us and looking outside its hard to remember how cold and snowy it was just a week or two ago. The majority of the snow melted away in just a few days. These photos were taken Monday to Friday last week and now there is no snow at all in the garden.

More White stuff

It has also been my first ever time experiencing a hockey play off win. As a United fan, apart from when we play in Knock out rounds of cup games, we don't do playoffs, so this has been a cool experience. Its great to have the thrill of 5 games played in just over a week leading to a series win and now looking forward to the next round.

Add that to the fact that this is the best Winnipeg Jets team there has pretty much ever been and its 30 years since Jets team had a playoff win and you can see why the city has gone mental!

We went into town last Friday evening along with about 36000 other people, which might not sound like much, but in a city of around 750,000 its quite a lot. There were 15000  inside the arena and at least that many again outside, watching on big screen set up on closed city centre streets. Music blared out before the game and with bars, food trucks and everyone dressed for a whiteout, it was a great party. The city went crazy and the team paid back the crowds anticipation by scoring 4 goals in the first 11 minutes to take an unassailable lead and win the series. Its only round 1, but there really is a feeling that the Jets can go all the way to the Stanley Cup Final, and for the first time this year the celebration closed the junction of Portage and main.

The police sent out a pretty cool tweet when Portage and Main was closed....

Nice police tweet.
We watched the end of a game in the pub and were waiting for a bus that never came, so wandered down to the junction to join in. I got interviewed for radio - Which due to my swearing was never aired. Plus we got to meet and get a photo with Winnipeg's biggest fan - Dancing Gabe!

Wandering down Main street

Hayley, Dancing Gabe and Buffy.
Here is a slightly sweary video.
The Jets take on the only team to finish above them over the season  - The Nashvills Predators - in a best of 7 series starting Friday evening.

Naked Car.

As you may know, the people who pay me to play with telephones are kind enough to supply transport for the task of carrying my lunch with me wherever I go. This, they do out of their kind hearts, only wanting one thing in return. That is, while I have the car, I am to treat it like little old lady - Carefully, looking after it - feeding it fuel and never causing it any stress, lest it should be struck by a pothole, a truck or a freewheeling cyclist. It sleeps inside the granny flat we call a garage and loves its pet duck. But, alas, it is time for the old lady to depart from our lives and be replaced by a younger, more frisky model. So this week I had to take the old gal to get her clothes removed and her insides cleaned out so that she may be put on display in the hope that someone else adopts her and looks after her until the end of her meaningful life.

She looked like this a few days ago...

Yes, she was a dirty girl - But now without her sticky clothing she looks like this (I wondered whether it was appropriate to post these naked photos in a family blog - but nobody reads this so, what the hell)
Oooh err!

Naked behind

The best side

It feels wrong to be driving round now as I think everyone will stare. But its only for a short while.
I will be giving her up in the next few weeks to be replaced by something else. I will post photos of my new 'ride', when I can.

That's it for today. A short and sweet update -  Its too nice to sit inside writing this when the sun is out and I have a naked car to go ride in!

Thanks for the oranges
Yerp.
