Mum and dads anniversary - A present for everyone!

Mum and dad were married on the 30th March 1964 and celebrated 50 years marriage a few months before passing away in 2014.

We celebrated then, with a meal at a pub in Skegness.

Here are a few photos from that day...

Happy mum and dad

The infamous knife scene

I HAVE NO IDEA!

When looking through these photos I remembered back a few years to 2001 and the time we all gathered in Skegness to celebrate dads 60th birthday.

Gareth and Tracey lived in Germany at the time and were between cars - So I spent an awesome couple of days with them and a young Mikie and Jimbo, driving from Dorset, to Germany, to Skegness, to Germany, to Dorset. About 2500 miles.

We did this to surprise dad for his birthday with Chris, Julie and a very little Abbie

It was a great weekend, with a lot of fun travelling across, as well as messing about in Skegness for a couple of days.

I had a Sharp Viewcam at the time and a lot of the weekend, was recorded, but alas the tape has been lost somewhere and probably will never be found again.

UNTIL NOW!!!

Sometime, while in UK Buffy got it transferred to DVD and I discovered that DVD just a week or two ago in a box of old CD's. I have now copied it onto the internet and its there for all to see - all 90 minutes of it!!

There are a few points of note about who is in it and parts I really enjoy...

The video starts with me picking up G, T, J and M in Germany and Gareth does a lot of the recording.

I refer to my girlfriend 'Claire' in the video a couple of times. Remember this was 17 years ago.
Me and Buffy actually ran into Claire in Dorset when we were in the UK. We spent a nice couple of hours at her house drinking tea and catching up. Claire is happily married with kids and is still a good friend even now.

Julie at the time the video was made, is heavily pregnant with Joe who is now about 8 feet tall!

Also in the video are two of mum and dads best friends. Dorothy and Robert. They lived and worked on a farm in Bullgill in the lake district and we used to visit them a couple of times a year for holidays when we were kids ourselves

7 minutes in, we see Tracey, James and Mikie (Chip?) in the back of the car as we wait for a ferry. I must apologize to Mikie and Jimbo for any piss taking you receive from this video. You were great kids and I love you both but it is so funny to see you as real children again in this. If you don't want the video to be seen, I will take it down. But I really think you will both like it.

14 minutes and we do a drive by of mum and dads house in Skegness before a drive around town.

21 minutes. We meet up with Chris, Julie a really tiny little Abbey and Joe (as a bump) in Kwik Save car park, before heading around to surprise mum and dad at home.

26.30. Mum explains the Trannel Chunnel...haha amazing! We then begin the meal at the Italian restaurant.

The meal includes a lot of piss taking, laughter and dad makes a nice speech. It was a great night.
We then headed into the big bright lights of Skegness to play in the arcades.

Don't miss Abbey riding a stagecoach at 48 minutes...so cute!

At 1hr 4 mins we return to mum and dads bungalow the next day for some photos and for dad to cut his birthday cake, before we leave to head home at 1.hr14. There is a little of the trip back to Germany including arrival at Dover and on the ferry.

We then arrive back at Gareth and Traceys old flat in Osnabruck before the video ends.

Anyway, I hope if you watch this you enjoy it. I must admit to being a bit emotional at times watching mum and dad in their old place in Skegness. It certainly brings back some great memories for me and I hope it does the same for you all.
