Winter in England continues with cold and wet evenings followed by frosty and chilly mornings - its even been below freezing a couple of times this month. There are no signs of any snowfalls this winter yet though, so a certain brown eyed Canadian is looking longingly at the weather forecast from Winnipeg and keeping her Manitoban fingers and toes crossed in the hope that there will be at least a white dusting on the ground before Christmas. You never know, she may get lucky.
In other news we had a day shopping in town and saw the most interesting 'human statue', I have seen in ages - it was a bloke dressed like a genie complete with gold face and shoes - but he was sat down on what appeared to be a flying carpet. It was very clever and drew a large crowd around him...
Can you see how he does it?
We also took Taz out for a Sunday afternoon walk with Chris and the kids - nothing unus1ual there and a normal afternoon as the dog decided to swim around in a freezing cold pond! He is mental.

Crazy dog |
Whilst looking at some websites for gadgets and other weird stuff I came across some really cool small wooden robots. They were really cute and Buffy noted that I liked them and decided to treat me by buying one.....It arrived in a little wooded box and comes shaped like a cube, but can be manipulated to be posed in lots of different positions. However, at first our pet wooden dinosaur - 'Master', didn't know what to make of him...
'Woody'.... | | |
Master the dinosaur came to say hello..... |
He was a little scared and tried to surrender to Master.. |
Master got over-excited and nearly ate Woody |
He tried to bite his arm off...
Woody got very scared and just about managed to get away from master. He saw his chance and climbed up the nearest tall object. This just happened to be a 19 inch television. As you can tell Master and Woody are not fully grown yet. They are both little.
Master tried to chase Woody up the tv... |
But Masters little front arms meant he couldn't climb the flat screen- Woody was safe for now. |
Although Woody is a mini-robot and Master is a wooden dinosaur who runs on batteries, amazingly they both understand the language of toys and as they stared at each other they understood that they are both meant to be played with and not eat each other. They decided to trust each other and after a while Master promised that he wouldn't eat Woody - Woody wasn't sure at first but had to come down sometime....
Woody tickled Master under the chin... |
..and Master then rolled over for a belly rub. |
Now they were real friends! |
They were both really happy!! |
So the two of them are now really good friends. They are always playing with each other and Teasing Taz around the house! Everyone is happy.
Back to real life and I have been working for Asda for about 8 weeks. The first few weeks were training at a different store, but since 29 October, we have been live and working at the store in Hyde. Everything is going really well and I like the job a lot, even though the pay isn't very good. Just two weeks ago a new board was put up showing percentages of how we are doing and showing our progress. One of the things it shows is 'Driver of the week'. This is worked out firstly on how many 'on-time' or early deliveries each driver makes. Last week a few of us managed 100% of on time deliveries. However, when this happens the best driver is decided by how many deliveries that they make during the week. Last week myself and Sean both made the most amount of deliveries - about 80-90 over 4 days of work. So we were both lucky enough to win a shared 'Driver of the week'. Sean though is a veteran driver with a number of years experience - I am the first of the 'new' drivers to win the award for the week!

The board at work - check out the drivers names.... |
Another strange order from Asda - Bread, milk, pillow and quilts - a lazy day at home? |
So they say Dogs are like their owners ..... so Taz, the mental dog, must think he's yours! .... Or is Chris crazy too?
